Sharp Decline in Steel Prices Across Pakistan Amid Falling Raw Material Costs

Karachi, Pakistan – Steel prices in Pakistan have experienced a significant drop, with a reduction of Rs. 45,000 per ton following a sharp decrease in global raw material costs. This dramatic shift in pricing comes at a time when steel and iron, which are essential commodities for construction and industry, play a pivotal role in influencing the country’s economic environment.

Steel Price Trends in Pakistan

As per domestic steel manufacturers’ latest rates, Cold Rolled Coil (CRC) and Hot Dipped Galvanized Coil (HDGC) prices have moved downward by Rs. 45,000 per ton. This substantial reduction brings the cost of 1 mm CRC to Rs. 211,500 per ton, while HDGC is now priced at Rs. 220,800 per ton.

Factors Behind the Price Drop

The primary reason for this price reduction is the global drop in raw material costs, which has trickled down to the local market. Additionally, there has been weaker-than-expected demand during the busiest construction season, spanning from July to September. The reduced demand and cheaper raw materials have led to this noticeable decline in steel prices.

Looking Ahead

As Pakistan progresses through the end of summer, industry experts expect further price cuts, especially if demand remains subdued. This situation creates a unique opportunity for builders and manufacturers to take advantage of the lower costs, potentially fueling growth in the construction and industrial sectors.
